Valve care is very important!

The cylinder valve is one of the most abused piece of SCUBA equipment.

First and far most understand that the number one problem with the valve is the nut on the outside!
Think about it, yep I mean the operator of the valve!  These valves are design to handle the pressures that goes into the cylinder.  So when turning the valve off, ONLY use two fingers and a thumb, NOT YOUR FULL HAND.  There is no “OFF-er” setting on your valve.  When you go to your sink, do you use two fingers and a thumb or do you use you whole hand?  If you must tighten with more than two fingers and a thumb, your valve needs rebuild.

Make sure at time of hydro testing of your cylinder that your dive center is replacing your PRD (burst disk).

REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR LIFE SUPPORT SYTEM!

  • Get it serviced at least twice a year or 100 dives, which ever comes first.

  • When you are going on a dive trip and it is near time to get them serviced, bring them in when you purchase your airline tickets, NOT the week before you leave.

  • Always replace your dust cover on your regulator when you remove it from your cylinder.

  • Always rinse your regulator in fresh water when you are done using it.

  • Before diving, check your mouthpieces, hoses are tight, your computer turns on and your low pressure quick release is working properly

  • Bragging about the last time you had your regulator serviced is not what your buddy wants to hear
  • If you get seasick in your regulator, take care of it as soon as you get back to shore.  First thing to do is take your regulator to a garden hose place it in your mouthpiece.  Let the water run until it runs clear.

Care of my SCUBAPRO G 2 Computer

The tips for caring for your G2 is very simple and easy!

First always make sure you have your screen put on to your new G2.  A tip for applying the screen guard is to put light coating of Windex on the face of G2.  Next peel back a corner of the paper from the screen guard.  Made sure NOT to touch the screen guard sticky side with your hand.  Slowly put the screen guard down on the face of  your G2.  Once in place you can move the guard around until the Windex dries.  Any bubbles are be worked to the edges of the screen guard.

How to care for your G2 Computer buttons!  If your buttons are getting sticky, NEVER spray your G2 buttons with any like WD40 or any product like similar, it could ruin the O-rings.  The best way to unstick your buttons is to fill a small bowl with warm water, place your G2 into the bowl and let it sit for a while.  Start pressing your buttons and they will loosen up.  After you are done go back and check your setting.  You may have changed something while doing this.  To avoid sticky buttons, after a day of diving take your computer back to your room and rinse it in warm water.

Care of your SCUBAPRO BCD

  • When finished diving, replace the cap back on your low pressure inflator on your BCD, either type inflator (Air 2 or BPI).
  • Carry your BCD with the handle not the shoulder straps
  • Also drain your BCD after use and leave a little air in the bladder for long term storage
  • Store on a BCD hanger
  • Always rinse your BCD in fresh water after diving in pools, salt water and muddy fresh water
  • Get your equipment service every 100 dives or two years, which ever comes first
